How To Keep a Big Puppy Happy

Asher is a big puppy - and most of the time he is a very happy puppy. The rain the past few days was hard on all of us, so I went shopping to buy the puppy presents. I went to Target, where I got him a new rope toy - his has seen a better day, and he was getting closer and closer to our fingers when we played tug o' war with him! But what I really went for was balls - yes, Asher needs new balls (chuckle, chuckle.) He really likes his squeaky tennis balls, but he has managed to either lose (I can't imagine where they are in the house) them, or has chomped so hard on them that they no longer squeak. So I got him 2 containers of them.

How to make him happy? Give him a new ball and then chase him around the house. There is no doubt about it, this makes him very happy. And if I walk away, he drops the ball to tell me that he still wants to play, and I, being a sucker for that puppy face, go get the ball and play with him some more.

And then, when I really don't want to play, I give him a marrow bone. And that makes him happy for several hours!
