The Dog Days of Summer
It has been getting hotter and more humid, and today it is pretty awful. But the puppy is outside catching the last good rays of sun, I suppose.
We had quite a time when we tried to go for a walk this morning (note the word tried.) Asher figured that once he was done with what he needed to do, that we would go home. And it was embarrassing dragging him trying to get him to go for my walk. So I said let's go home and he was jaunty. So I tried leading him to go on "grandpa's walk" but he wanted no part of it - he still wanted to head for home. And it was sort of pathetic to see those little feet planted so hard that his legs were spreading but he still wasn't moving.
But grandma is undaunted, so we headed down the road to the school (where we saw a boxer playing in the front field, but continued on), down to the back of the school and then back around. Not as long a walk as I had hoped, but at least I got him to move for a while.

great use of the word, "jaunty." you really don't see that word so much these days
