Grandma is Away So the Puppies Will Play!

While Asher's grandma was in LA visiting cousin fish's mommy and celebrating at her bridal shower, Asher allowed his friends Ranger and Manhattan to come visit (their parents had a wedding in Connecticut). Some frequent readers of this blog may remember Ranger from a previous post in which they played in New Jersey. This time Ranger brought along his soon to be step-sister - she's a pure black lab.

The 30 hour playdate started with a quick romp around the lawn. Then the two visitors made sure to sniff every surface in the house. They checked to make sure we had put all the toys away (missed a few...and some rawhids too!) and then it was time to play. Asher and Ranger boxed, tumbled, rolled, and necked. Asher was very submissive - showing off his cow belly often to an eager Ranger. Manhattan was the calm lady, intruding when they needed a ref.

After a short nap we hopped in the car to go over to the Temple. We spent an amazing half hour there - looking for Asher's grandma was at the top of the order. They all went to her classroom immediately. They peed throughout the lawn, ran around, and chased a ball (well, Manhattan did - Asher and Ranger chased Manhattan chasing the ball!).

This is where my grandma's class is....usually?

Let's just wait. I'm sure my grandma will open the door soon!

A classic Asher pic

Manhattan was playing near the playground...but never managed to use it

A shot of all three - Ranger usually moved to fast to fit into the frame

A beautiful shot of Manhattan - playing with a ball

Everyone was well behaved in the car - Asher took his traditional post on the arm rest, while Ranger and Manhattan each took a window. We return to Asher's house for dinner - everyone ate his or her dinner!

An attempt to get all the dogs in one pic!

The humans then ate their dinner ... everyone was well behaved - Asher claimed his turf under the table, Ranger hung out to the left of Asher's grandpa, and Manhattan went back and forth begging everyone. No food was given, sadly. But dinner was delicious!

After dinner the pups were taken for a short walk on Asher's block. By then everyone was ready for bed. The humans had some ice cream for dessert while the puppies lounged about. Finally it was bed time! Asher's grandpa fell asleep on his couch in the family room...silly grandpa!

Everyone woke up a lot during the night. We think it was because it was a new place for the visitors. Asher wouldnt let them into his mommy's bed - he was very protective of it! Sometime in the wee hours of the morning the visitors went up to Asher's grandpa (who had made it to his own bed finally) and got into bed with him!!! He liked it. He said they liked rolling around in his bed and, when they were finally leaving, Manhattan wasn't really sure how to get out of the bed which is so high up!

A couple of hours later all the pups needed to pee - Asher's grandpa was nice enough to let them outside. It was good that they got to go out because a few minutes later chaos ensued! Ranger found "Bad Cuz" (a bday present I gave him) in Auntie Sharon's room! Asher was very defensive over it and fought for it! Bad Cuz lost his legs. So sad.

Soon after that they were finally taken out for their real morning walk. Then some breakfast and laying around. This afternoon I had to run some errands so they came for the fun time in the car. On our way back we stopped at the Temple again to play. This time was scary though - there was thunder! Asher was too scared to play around and the thunder sounded like it was getting closer. So we came back to the house. Everyone slept. And then the visitors' mother came to get them.

All in all it was a great weekend - Asher learned he has to share sometimes. Now he's exhausted, passed out underneath the computer.

I think I'll do the same thing.
